Hi Nativo,
First let clear a few things up:
1) your posts were delayed in being displayed to these forums because I premoderate all posts by new users to prevent spam from being posted here, hence you could not see your posts right away.
2) These forums are not in any way associated with nor endorsed by EA games. I am the owner of these forums and I run them as a hobby. We're just a group of SimCity enthusiasts who have been playing the game for many, many years.
3) To the best of my knowledge no one related to EA games participates in these forums.
4) I did not approve all your posts because they all basically covered the same issue, which is installing SimCity 4 on Windows 7/Vista with a 64bit quad core processor.
5) I am merging all your posts into one thread since they all cover the same issue.
Now with all that out of the way....
Your issue basically comes down to the fact that SimCity 4 is several years old and is not supported any longer (to the best of my knowledge) as it has been replaced with SimCity Societies. As you should do for ANY software you buy, if you just bought SimCity 4, you should have read the box FIRST to see if it claimed to support Windows 7, which it does not since it came out before even Windows Vista existed.
SimCity 4 was designed for 32bit Windows XP. A 64 bit version of Windows Visita and/or Windows 7 is a significantly different architecture from 32 bit Windows XP and many programs, like SimCity 4, just can't run on it. At least they can not run on Windows 7 in native mode.
I do not have either Windows Vista nor Windows 7 so I can only guess at solutions, however, I do believe there is some sort of 32bit emulator on Windows 7 (someone else would have to confirm this) that MAY enable you to run SimCity 4.
Maybe some others can pipe in on this issue with suggestions. As much as I like SimCity 4 and would like to play it on Windows 7 when I buy a new computer, I seriously doubt EA Games is would come out with a patch given how old the game is. This is sad, because it will mean the end to a great game.
As this will be a more common issue I hope someone can post a work around so that we can have our SimCity 4 and 64 bit Windows 7 to.
