EA has confirmed that an expansion for The Sims 2 is underway. Titled The Sims 2 University, players will be able to take their Sims through the young adult stage of their life as they send them off to college. The expansion will provide players with the chance to choose from 11 majors that will let them secure a final degree and open 5 career paths. And of course no college-themed expansion would be complete without the inclusion of parties, social interaction and pranks. Players can even pick up a part-time job to earn their Sim a little extra cash through the tough college years.
The Sims 2, which is based on a proprietary 3D engine, contains the ground-breaking introduction of genetics where players control their Sims over a lifetime and pass their Sims' DNA down from one generation to the next.
The Sims 2 allows for new facial expressions and body gestures along with the ability to virtually create and play your own sitcom by choosing one of five different aspirations for your Sims' lives: Popularity, Fortune, Family, Knowledge, and Romance. These aspirations in life cause your Sims to have unique wants and fears and so which players can choose to give their Sims a long successful existence or leave their life in shambles.
Developed by EA's Maxis Studio, The Sims 2 University expansion is currently on track for a release in March 2005.
