    Exclamation Snes: Double Megolopolis - 1 Million+!!!

    June 9, 2005

After 460 years, I finally broke 1,000,000!!! I guess it's a record because the most I've ever read of is someone who achieved 800K.

1,000,000 people... it's technically a DOUBLE MEGALOPOLIS!!! Naturally, the game was never designed to go that high, so there are no animations or gifts after the breaking point.

Only thing that's weird is with the numbers... there's a thinner "2" that replaces the first number... no big deal, still, it's pretty .

Wow, now that is a packed city! At first I thought the graphic was goofed up until I looked at it closely. Congradulations.

Oh and welcome to SimCity Forum.

    Once again, nice city!

And thanks again for the responses and compliments!!!

It would have been a touch easier if there weren't 2 glitches. No matter how many powerplants there were, several lines at the top of the board would lose power and ruin the "stacked" lines. It happened twice... all of the industrial and part of the commercial zones were maxed out at one point... pissed me off!!!

I've been playing this game on and off since it first came out... every year or so I pick it up again (when I have time to relax between work projects). SimCity SNES is truly one of the greatest. I'd love to see an XBox/PS/Cube version of this where some of the bugs are worked out and prettier graphics. Maybe a few more gifts and options too, but inherently the same, just nicer!!!

Wow. The city is so uniform. Everything is so planned out. Did you plan the city on paper before its construction?

    Hi R4zz0R,

That's a good question you asked. The planning of my city really didn't take that long... only about 12 years to understand the game inside out Seriously though, the plan took a couple of hours, making certain that everything would turn out so that there would be virtually no wasted space and everything could work out properly. No paper, just trial and destruction.

    As for Stormtrooper9's question...

Double layered... Did you mean stacking? If so, stacking is when you first build a residental block, let individual homes begin forming on the block, mow them down, and replace the home with either a small park, road, rail, or powerline so that they don't grow back (I prefer parks because you can build right over them). After one side (3 spaces) have been preped, a Commercial or Industrial block is placed over the 3 spaced Residental mowed block. Once that Commerical or Industrial block has fully developed (I use gifts around the area to excell and maximize their growth), the Residential block gets completely demolished. What you have then with the Commercial or Industrial block is a missing 1/3 chunk (doesn't effect the population numbers). That missing area is then replaced with either a park, rail, etc. so that it remains locked in place... meaning that the block will never degrade to a lower form (unless your demand for Industrial, Commercial, or Residential begins to fluctuate or you lose power).

The hardest thing about stacking is making sure that 1 piece of road or rail is touching the areas at all times... can be very tricky... and that your demand levels never decrease or the block loses power. Any of those errors will cause the stack to become unlocked and inherently ruined.

Stacking also works very practically with any other structure besides Residential. You can severely reduce an airport, power plant, etc. down to a much smaller size.

Hope this answered your question... if not, then I've wasted 20 minutes of my time!!!

    All the best,
    - Pete
