Why do you use mostly 12x6 grids? Is this the most effective way to lay out the grid?

I'm a new user here and I have a few questions:

    1. If I have a tragic-congested "+" intersection of roads, is it smart to pause, bulldoze around and then make it an avenue?

    2. When are highways usefull

    3. Does this look like it would get congested or accident prone?

and as you may see the bottom right road is a highway at a lower level than the roads around it and has opposite one-way roads on each side. Also there are bridges crossing over and tons of on ramps

Is this a good Idea with a congested avenue or highway?

    1) Yes, avenues work better than roads at holding traffic

    2) Never really, unless you have a super-congested thoroughfare in your city, but I have very rarely seen traffic that bad in such a specific area to make it very useful.

    3) I don't know about accident prone, maybe congesting, but it is very confusing for sure.

Is this a good Idea with a congested avenue or highway?
    4) You mean one way roads paralleling (?) the highway? I don't know that I've seen it done, but I suppose it could work. I don't know why you'd need it though. Plus, with the way the routes are set up in SC4, most people would probably just take the one-ways and clog them up instead of taking the freeway.

Now, if you mean the intersection; no, don't try it

Oh, and by the way, welcome to the forum.
