    You need to keep replanting - until the the pollution is low enough for the trees to keep growing. I believe parks will help too. You can also try planting the narrow row of tree between buildings and see if that helps, but I don't think it's as effective as the forest.

    Planting trees?? They grow slow and won't solve the air pollution quick, even parks don't. Once polluted city, always polluted city.

    I have manage to turn around that pollution problem by planting more trees and setting the dirty industry tax to max. Also remove any power plant that create air pollution. Make your city a mass transport oriented city so your citizen will use public transportation like trains, monorail, city bus and trams.
